USEFUL INFORMATION

OUR LOCATION

Perfectly situated for those wishing to make a visit and pay their respects to Lady Zeinab (AS), we are only a 2 minute walk from the Sayedah Zeinab Shrine.

THE SHRINE

The shrine of Sayedah Zeinab (AS) is an exquisite display of mirrors, crystal, and gold ornamentation. However, it is not the beautiful decoration that immediately captures a visitor’s attention. The atmosphere inside is one of open emotion rather than silent reverence. A visit to the Shrine of Lady Zaynab will leave visitors of any faith overwhelmed, both by the beautiful architecture and the moving power of belief.

THE OLD CITY

Founded around 10,000 BC, Damascus is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. It has changed hands countless times over the centuries. Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, Umayyads, Mongols, Ottomans, French and many others all once held sway here. Each group left echoes behind that became part of the city’s rich tapestry. The Old City, in the heart of Damascus, is best explored on foot to really take in the city's ageless charms.

BUSY MIDNIGHTS

Damascus has quite busy midnights. Coffeehouses, where Arabic coffee, tea and shisha pipes are served, proliferate Damascus. Card games, tables (backgammon variants), and chess are popular activities in cafés. Damascenes also head up Mount Qassioun at night to watch the city lights. It has a range of restaurants from which the whole city can be viewed.
